Opera Remix: Musical Worlds Collide at The State

Townsend Opera just opened our 2011/12 with an amazing night at The State Theatre!  Opera Remix: Musical Worlds at The State played to a sold-out audience who socialized, ate, imbibed, and heard some of
the best tunes in all of opera and classic rock performed by opera singers.  It was an exceptionally fun night!

Led by Principal Conductor Ryan Murray, the Remix Band and six opera singers  performed such standards as Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, Habanera by Bizet, Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, Baba O’Riley by The Who, Summertime by Gershwin, Nessun Dorma by Puccini, Faithfully by Journey, and many others.

Please take a moment and tell us what you thought about our first Opera Remix event.  What was your favorite moment of the evening.  Did you have a favorite song?  What do you think we should do for our next Opera Remix event?  Leave a reply below.

Thanks for creating the “Opera Remix” webpage. I was hoping to see and hear some of the pieces from the evening. Unfortunately, I was only able to hear an instrumental rehearsal. Is there any chance you could put some of the actual performances up for viewing? – I would like to share some of these performances with some of my friends to encourage attendance at next year’s Opera Remix.
