Townsend Opera is pleased to open its 2011/12 season with Opera Remix: Musical Worlds Collide at The State, a fun and innovative musical event at The State Theatre in downtown Modesto that will bring together the best tunes in all of classic rock and opera in a rock concert setting, all arranged for a rock orchestra and performed by opera singers.  The event will begin and end with a street party offering food, drinks, karaoke, and opportunities to socialize with the performers at the event.

Led by Principal Conductor Ryan Murray, the Remix Band and six opera singers will perform such standards as Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, Habanera by Bizet, Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, Baba O’Riley by The Who, Summertime by Gershwin, Nessun Dorma by Puccini, Faithfullyby Journey, and many others. The event will begin with a street party in front of The State Theatre with food, drinks, and a DJ.  There will be a karoake party in the street in front of The State Theatre directly following the event, with desserts provided by the Townsend Opera League.
